A 23-foot Monarch boat, which was used by the US Army Corps of Engineers, was transferred to Lawrence University for a service charge of $2,200. An additional $8,000 was invested to refurbish it. They saved over $13,800 by using this program.
The school is using this boat to collect samples from Lake Winnebago to research the waters habitat which could affect the future of these waters and the fish that live here, as well as other similar waters.
This has become an excellent work boat. It is the first time the school is able to provide room for 12 students. Many more are then able to obtain the important “hands-on” experience at one time which is highly desired by the school.
